The fairing has a specific shape and two holes. Unscrew you current TW front cowl and remove it.

Remove the cowel grommets.  The post should still have a little lube on it if not put some on it.  Put the Cafe washer in a cup of hot water to make this easy.  Retrieve washer (with out burning yourself ) and press it on at an angle like this to stretch it over the post cap. The washers might crack if too cold, and if you try it when their cold it's painful to push on. Repeat on the other side of cowl.

Slightly flex the shield holes onto the posts.

Replace the headlight cowel onto the cowel grommets, and front mount screw. Finished!
